Narrative:
Holding instructions from ny ATC hold northeast of hnk on the 010 degree right turns between 10/30 DME. Further clearance at XA00Z M-FL180. Entered hold with a right turn 25 degrees of bank about halfway through turn controller asked us to tighten the turn. He then came back and asked if we were flying l-turns in the hold. We informed him he had issued us holding with right turns. Both the first officer and myself copied the same thing. He came back and said he had made the error.

Title: ACR MLG GIVEN INCORRECT HOLDING INSTRUCTIONS WITH A TURN MADE IN THE WRONG DIRECTION.
Narrative: HOLDING INSTRUCTIONS FROM NY ATC HOLD NE OF HNK ON THE 010 DEG RIGHT TURNS BTWN 10/30 DME. FURTHER CLRNC AT XA00Z M-FL180. ENTERED HOLD WITH A RIGHT TURN 25 DEGS OF BANK ABOUT HALFWAY THROUGH TURN CTLR ASKED US TO TIGHTEN THE TURN. HE THEN CAME BACK AND ASKED IF WE WERE FLYING L-TURNS IN THE HOLD. WE INFORMED HIM HE HAD ISSUED US HOLDING WITH RIGHT TURNS. BOTH THE F/O AND MYSELF COPIED THE SAME THING. HE CAME BACK AND SAID HE HAD MADE THE ERROR.
