Narrative:

I was walking to the back galley to start the beverage service when I noticed that the woman at seat 30F was holding a child in her lap. Seats 30D and 30E were also occupied. We moved a customer to another seat to ensure adequate O2 masks would be available in an emergency. This flight was almost full and the boarding process was hectic; as usual. In addition there was a celebration for a gold customer who reached a million mile mark. The crew admits to missing the lap child in this row prior to take-off and will be more diligent in the future with checking this row; but wonders why this was not tagged in the computer system when she checked in for her flight. We could alleviate delays and frustrated customers if the system noted parents traveling with lap children and the rows on certain aircraft where they are not allowed. The same could be said for car seats!
