Narrative:
Climbing through 10000 ft; captain was unable to trim nose down using the control wheel trim switches and I was unable to as well on the first officer's trim switches. The alternate trim wheel worked normal. Returned for a normal landing. Maintenance informed us of a previous write-up of the primary trim system and removed the aircraft from service.

Title: MD80 Flight Crew climbing out of 10;000 FT discovered their electric nose down trim from the yoke switches is inoperative. Alternate trim worked normally but crew elected to return to their departure airport. The aircraft had been written up for the same problem two weeks prior.
Narrative: Climbing through 10000 FT; Captain was unable to trim nose down using the control wheel trim switches and I was unable to as well on the First Officer's trim switches.
