Narrative:
Aircraft X inbound to dfw was cleared from 5000 to 3000', heading 100 degrees, to intercept the localizer for runway 13R at dfw. At 3300' the controller called traffic at 12 O'clock, 1 mi, no altitude readout. First officer called pull up and the single engine aircraft Y passed underneath our aircraft. I estimated him at 3000'. We proceeded and landed west/O incident. Small aircraft Y was on a heading of 280 degrees, 3000' directly into the path of arrival traffic to runway 13R at dfw. The center called the traffic at 1 NM, but had no actual readout. Problem caused by light aircraft climbing into the base of the TCA in a high density traffic area. Believe we need a continuing education process on procedures around the TCA's. No violent maneuvers involved. Passenger were unaware of problem.

Title: NMAC BETWEEN COMMUTER AND SMA. SEE AND AVOID SITUATION.
Narrative: ACFT X INBND TO DFW WAS CLRED FROM 5000 TO 3000', HDG 100 DEGS, TO INTERCEPT THE LOC FOR RWY 13R AT DFW. AT 3300' THE CTLR CALLED TFC AT 12 O'CLOCK, 1 MI, NO ALT READOUT. F/O CALLED PULL UP AND THE SINGLE ENG ACFT Y PASSED UNDERNEATH OUR ACFT. I ESTIMATED HIM AT 3000'. WE PROCEEDED AND LANDED W/O INCIDENT. SMA Y WAS ON A HDG OF 280 DEGS, 3000' DIRECTLY INTO THE PATH OF ARR TFC TO RWY 13R AT DFW. THE CENTER CALLED THE TFC AT 1 NM, BUT HAD NO ACTUAL READOUT. PROB CAUSED BY LIGHT ACFT CLBING INTO THE BASE OF THE TCA IN A HIGH DENSITY TFC AREA. BELIEVE WE NEED A CONTINUING EDUCATION PROCESS ON PROCS AROUND THE TCA'S. NO VIOLENT MANEUVERS INVOLVED. PAX WERE UNAWARE OF PROB.
