Narrative:
Pilot flying was not able to control aircraft while attempting to level at 5;000 MSL. Pilot manually disconnected the autothrottles and placed them in idle. He overrode what appeared to be a stuck elevator and began a descent back to the assigned altitude; I saw 5;800 on the altimeter when he regained control of the aircraft. I did advise the ATC specialist that we had a flight control malfunction and were returning to the assigned altitude.
