Narrative:
The problem arose after a flight from ocean city, md, to martin state airport on approach 10 NM to the southeast. When the air traffic controller told me to call him when over hart & miller island. This island does not exist on both washington VFR terminal area chart or washington sectional chart. This created a small amount of confusion in the cockpit at the time since I could not find it. While in this process of finding this place that did not exist, we had entered the airspace of the airport. In the ATC transmission I thought we had received permission to land my aircraft at martin state. While on the taxiway is when the controller had informed of having no landing clearance.
