Narrative:
During departure from lgb the controller gave us several targets to avoid. We had to take evasive action for three of them within a time period of about 2 minutes. It was quite a saturated situation, more than I've seen before. The departure procedure from lgb puts you out of the TCA for lax over the water south of lgb. I suggest a larger TCA or a turn and climb into the TCA. If the visibility had been less there's a good chance I wouldn't be writing this now. Supplemental information from acn 94833. The coastline we had penetrated was and is a natural place for aircraft to fly, ie, just off a beautiful coastline, clear of the TCA etc. Even knowing this as we all do ahead of time does not lessen the seriousness of oversaturated airspace and a transport category aircraft being routed into airspace known to be a most popular route for non transport category aircraft.
