Narrative:
After checking the NOTAM's; I disregarded a NOTAM about a temporary tower being active. The NOTAM expired at 0100. Our departure was 0246. I was not expecting the tower to still be open. The CTAF frequency is 123.0. The temporary tower frequency was 119.55. In hindsight we should have monitored both frequencies. The tower controller called us on 123.0 after we announced we were taking the runway for departure. Normally this airport is uncontrolled. There was a temporary tower for an event. We were confused and felt like we were on the wrong frequency. We were glad to have the controller; however we thought the tower was closed. There was no conflict with traffic. After we switched to the tower frequency; we sat on the runway for approximately 30 seconds awaiting another aircraft to clear the runway before being cleared for takeoff. It would be ideal; in my opinion; if the temporary tower frequency and the CTAF could be identical. Also if the AWOS or ASOS could announce that a tower was still active that would help alleviate confusion.
