Narrative:

Approximately 7 mi northeast cvg airport on downwind we were cleared from 6000' to 4500' and told to look for traffic at 2 mi low going south. Second officer then pointed out other traffic at 12 O'clock, same altitude. First officer turned about 30 degrees to the left at about 20 degree bank and increased our rate of descent. We estimate passing within 400-500' vertical and horizontal of what was obviously an small aircraft. I asked the controller about the traffic and he said he had it on radar but asked us for its altitude. We estimated it at 6500'. The controller then advised our company flight who acknowledged seeing the small aircraft. Passenger did indicate upon deplaning that the small aircraft was quite visible from the cabin. No injuries occurred and no complaints were voiced.

Title: NMAC BETWEEN ACR-LGT AND GA-SMA.

Narrative: APPROX 7 MI NE CVG ARPT ON DOWNWIND WE WERE CLRED FROM 6000' TO 4500' AND TOLD TO LOOK FOR TFC AT 2 MI LOW GOING S. S/O THEN POINTED OUT OTHER TFC AT 12 O'CLOCK, SAME ALT. F/O TURNED ABOUT 30 DEGS TO THE LEFT AT ABOUT 20 DEG BANK AND INCREASED OUR RATE OF DSCNT. WE ESTIMATE PASSING WITHIN 400-500' VERT AND HORIZ OF WHAT WAS OBVIOUSLY AN SMA. I ASKED THE CTLR ABOUT THE TFC AND HE SAID HE HAD IT ON RADAR BUT ASKED US FOR ITS ALT. WE ESTIMATED IT AT 6500'. THE CTLR THEN ADVISED OUR COMPANY FLT WHO ACKNOWLEDGED SEEING THE SMA. PAX DID INDICATE UPON DEPLANING THAT THE SMA WAS QUITE VISIBLE FROM THE CABIN. NO INJURIES OCCURRED AND NO COMPLAINTS WERE VOICED.
