Narrative:
Sitting on runway 9 at bos awaiting takeoff clearance, we understood 'air carrier Y cfa cleared for takeoff runway 9.' believing the clearance was for us I ordered the first officer to verify that was air carrier X cfa cleared for takeoff runway 9. He made two calls with no response either time. I then made one call, with no response. With the next call (first officer's third), we heard the tower give go around instructions to an aircraft and tower told us we were cleared for takeoff and that we were screwing things up. During takeoff roll I explained what had happened but tower didn't seem to understand. The tower controller seemed upset when he sent us over to departure control frequency so, before switching, I again informed (the tower controller) what the problem was and his reply was 'air carrier X cfa maintain radio silence!' and I said 'air carrier X cfa switching to departure.'

Title: ACR MLG REQUESTED TKOF CLRNC VERIFICATION BUT BEFORE CLRNC COULD BE CONFIRMED ATCT LCL CTLR GAVE AN ACR ON FINAL A GO AROUND CLRNC AND ADMONISHED THE FLT CREW FOR FAILING TO START TKOF.
Narrative: SITTING ON RWY 9 AT BOS AWAITING TKOF CLRNC, WE UNDERSTOOD 'ACR Y CFA CLRED FOR TKOF RWY 9.' BELIEVING THE CLRNC WAS FOR US I ORDERED THE F/O TO VERIFY THAT WAS ACR X CFA CLRED FOR TKOF RWY 9. HE MADE TWO CALLS WITH NO RESPONSE EITHER TIME. I THEN MADE ONE CALL, WITH NO RESPONSE. WITH THE NEXT CALL (F/O'S THIRD), WE HEARD THE TWR GIVE GO AROUND INSTRUCTIONS TO AN ACFT AND TWR TOLD US WE WERE CLRED FOR TKOF AND THAT WE WERE SCREWING THINGS UP. DURING TKOF ROLL I EXPLAINED WHAT HAD HAPPENED BUT TWR DIDN'T SEEM TO UNDERSTAND. THE TWR CTLR SEEMED UPSET WHEN HE SENT US OVER TO DEP CTL FREQ SO, BEFORE SWITCHING, I AGAIN INFORMED (THE TWR CTLR) WHAT THE PROB WAS AND HIS REPLY WAS 'ACR X CFA MAINTAIN RADIO SILENCE!' AND I SAID 'ACR X CFA SWITCHING TO DEP.'
