Narrative:

We had taken off from luk to reposition at cvg. Dayton radio reported altimeter setting of 29.90 for luk when we departed. About 10 min later first officer was getting ATIS and was shocked at altimeter setting of 30.41. I listened also and thought it must be correct because the notation pressure had been on most sequences that morning. When we landed the altimeter indicated 500' above ground elevation. We told tower or ground that ATIS was incorrect and they said they had just changed it. We should have asked for verification in the air.
