Narrative:

In honolulu a fuel gauge malfunctioned. The mechanics deferred the gauge per the MEL. The mechanics and fuelers stuck the tanks in accordance with the MEL. We proceeded on our flight with operations normal. When we landed we determined that we were 5000 pounds (approximately) short on fuel. We had over 30000 pounds remaining but this discrepancy alarmed me. An erroneous stick reading or malfunctioning magnastick must have led to the discrepancy. The flight I flew went to pago pago american samoa. Hurricane devastated the island while we were there delaying my return to honolulu where I could mail this form.
