Narrative:

Approaching the takeoff end of runway 36R dfw tower was called. They cleared us for takeoff. At this time I believe the transfer switch on #2 VHF was inadvertently positioned to the opposite position putting aircraft communication on departure rather than tower. Tower attempted to delay takeoff but was unable to reach aircraft. The majority of the time when a frequency change is made the toggle switch is moved to the other frequency. Suggest an effort be made to switch frequency early and signs posted at airports telling when to switch to tower and giving frequency.

Title: ACR MLG FREQ CHANGE PREMATURE. TWR UNABLE TO DELAY TKOF DUE LOSS OF RADIO CONTACT.

Narrative: APCHING THE TKOF END OF RWY 36R DFW TWR WAS CALLED. THEY CLRED US FOR TKOF. AT THIS TIME I BELIEVE THE TRANSFER SWITCH ON #2 VHF WAS INADVERTENTLY POSITIONED TO THE OPPOSITE POSITION PUTTING ACFT COMMUNICATION ON DEP RATHER THAN TWR. TWR ATTEMPTED TO DELAY TKOF BUT WAS UNABLE TO REACH ACFT. THE MAJORITY OF THE TIME WHEN A FREQ CHANGE IS MADE THE TOGGLE SWITCH IS MOVED TO THE OTHER FREQ. SUGGEST AN EFFORT BE MADE TO SWITCH FREQ EARLY AND SIGNS POSTED AT ARPTS TELLING WHEN TO SWITCH TO TWR AND GIVING FREQ.
