Narrative:
On descent to FL240, going thru approximately FL310 center asked us our assigned altitude. We stated FL240. Center said we were given an amendment to FL330 and that we had acknowledged. We stated that we had not acknowledged, nor did we hear that clearance. At that time we were given a turn and center said he would pull the tape. Another company flight told center that he had just checked at FL330 and that center had not acknowledged. He stated that is what center had heard. An air carrier B flight also confirmed that. We had an air carrier inspector on board. He had a headset on and also confirmed the only clearance he had was to 240.
