Narrative:
After a normal takeoff I called for gear retraction. Passing 1000' AGL the copilot stated the right main gear red door light was on. Continued climb to 3000' AGL. Second officer confirmed right main gear door light was on, gear lights were out. I instructed crew to cycle gear, which we did. On second gear retract cycle right main gear door light remained on. I told crew to request return to denver for landing. Gear extension was normal and all gear and door indications were normal in the cockpit. We requested a tower fly-by for a tower gear confirm. They confirmed gear and doors looked normal. We made a normal landing without incident. The most distracting part of this whole flight was a news helicopter which followed us on downwind to make a tv tape for the news. I had enough to do without looking for a news helicopter.

Title: GEAR DOOR LIGHT ON GEAR RETRACTION, FLT RETURNED AND LANDED.
Narrative: AFTER A NORMAL TKOF I CALLED FOR GEAR RETRACTION. PASSING 1000' AGL THE COPLT STATED THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR RED DOOR LIGHT WAS ON. CONTINUED CLIMB TO 3000' AGL. S/O CONFIRMED RIGHT MAIN GEAR DOOR LIGHT WAS ON, GEAR LIGHTS WERE OUT. I INSTRUCTED CREW TO CYCLE GEAR, WHICH WE DID. ON SECOND GEAR RETRACT CYCLE RIGHT MAIN GEAR DOOR LIGHT REMAINED ON. I TOLD CREW TO REQUEST RETURN TO DENVER FOR LNDG. GEAR EXTENSION WAS NORMAL AND ALL GEAR AND DOOR INDICATIONS WERE NORMAL IN THE COCKPIT. WE REQUESTED A TWR FLY-BY FOR A TWR GEAR CONFIRM. THEY CONFIRMED GEAR AND DOORS LOOKED NORMAL. WE MADE A NORMAL LNDG WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE MOST DISTRACTING PART OF THIS WHOLE FLT WAS A NEWS HELI WHICH FOLLOWED US ON DOWNWIND TO MAKE A TV TAPE FOR THE NEWS. I HAD ENOUGH TO DO WITHOUT LOOKING FOR A NEWS HELI.
