Narrative:

Departed slc VFR southbound to bullfrog marina. Started trip on left main fuel tank (approximately 17 gals usable). Abeam price, ut, switched to auxiliary fuel. Consists of 2 10 gal wing tanks for a total of 18 gals usable. Fuel is delivered to engine at about 21-22 gph, but only uses about 11 gph in cruise. The surplus is ported back to the left main. I was with my girl friend, who was occupying the right seat. She's a new private pilot and I was giving her some unofficial high performance dual. We descended to the pattern altitude at hanksville for some touch and goes. On downwind I briefed my girl friend on the gumps prelndg checklist. 'G,' being gas, was checked and showed just over 1/4 tank each. We selected right main. I flew a normal pattern, finished gumps and landed normally. Power was applied and takeoff initiated normally. I pulled up the gear when insufficient runway remained to land. At about 100' I experienced immediate and total power loss. I established 100 mph glide speed, checked mixture rich turned to a flat area and selected left main fuel tank. I wanted to turn on the auxiliary fuel pump, but was so low I didn't have enough concentration (undiverted) left to find the switch. I had to set it down very soon, as there was unsuitable terrain fast approaching. I did a smooth belly landing in level flight and the aircraft slid to a stop in about 150'. I shut everything off and we got out to survey the damage, which included a bent propeller (both blades), nose gear doors bent, and lower nose cowling wrinkled. I don't know why the engine quit. Hopefully the cause will be found in the engine tear-down. The plane was ferried back to a maintenance facility by the owner, who reported it flew completely normally.

Title: ENGINE FAILURE AND FORCED LNDG IMMEDIATELY AFTER TKOF.

Narrative: DEPARTED SLC VFR SBND TO BULLFROG MARINA. STARTED TRIP ON LEFT MAIN FUEL TANK (APPROX 17 GALS USABLE). ABEAM PRICE, UT, SWITCHED TO AUX FUEL. CONSISTS OF 2 10 GAL WING TANKS FOR A TOTAL OF 18 GALS USABLE. FUEL IS DELIVERED TO ENG AT ABOUT 21-22 GPH, BUT ONLY USES ABOUT 11 GPH IN CRUISE. THE SURPLUS IS PORTED BACK TO THE LEFT MAIN. I WAS WITH MY GIRL FRIEND, WHO WAS OCCUPYING THE RIGHT SEAT. SHE'S A NEW PVT PLT AND I WAS GIVING HER SOME UNOFFICIAL HIGH PERFORMANCE DUAL. WE DSNDED TO THE PATTERN ALT AT HANKSVILLE FOR SOME TOUCH AND GOES. ON DOWNWIND I BRIEFED MY GIRL FRIEND ON THE GUMPS PRELNDG CHKLIST. 'G,' BEING GAS, WAS CHKED AND SHOWED JUST OVER 1/4 TANK EACH. WE SELECTED RIGHT MAIN. I FLEW A NORMAL PATTERN, FINISHED GUMPS AND LANDED NORMALLY. PWR WAS APPLIED AND TKOF INITIATED NORMALLY. I PULLED UP THE GEAR WHEN INSUFFICIENT RWY REMAINED TO LAND. AT ABOUT 100' I EXPERIENCED IMMEDIATE AND TOTAL PWR LOSS. I ESTABLISHED 100 MPH GLIDE SPD, CHKED MIXTURE RICH TURNED TO A FLAT AREA AND SELECTED LEFT MAIN FUEL TANK. I WANTED TO TURN ON THE AUX FUEL PUMP, BUT WAS SO LOW I DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH CONCENTRATION (UNDIVERTED) LEFT TO FIND THE SWITCH. I HAD TO SET IT DOWN VERY SOON, AS THERE WAS UNSUITABLE TERRAIN FAST APCHING. I DID A SMOOTH BELLY LNDG IN LEVEL FLT AND THE ACFT SLID TO A STOP IN ABOUT 150'. I SHUT EVERYTHING OFF AND WE GOT OUT TO SURVEY THE DAMAGE, WHICH INCLUDED A BENT PROP (BOTH BLADES), NOSE GEAR DOORS BENT, AND LOWER NOSE COWLING WRINKLED. I DON'T KNOW WHY THE ENG QUIT. HOPEFULLY THE CAUSE WILL BE FOUND IN THE ENG TEAR-DOWN. THE PLANE WAS FERRIED BACK TO A MAINT FAC BY THE OWNER, WHO RPTED IT FLEW COMPLETELY NORMALLY.
