Narrative:
En route from bgm to iad, we were checked in with ZNY on 133.35. We were given direct seg VORTAC by ZNY. Approximately 38 DME ssw of seg VORTAC, the PNF asked for lower. Center then asked us to squawk identify. The controller then said we should be on 134.8. The PNF checked in and the controller asked, 'where have you been?' when asked what he meant, the controller informed us that we were shown to be 'lost radios' for the past 80 mi. The PNF then informed him that we were just now turned over. The controller then turned us over to ZNY on 132.2 and not another mention was made.
