Narrative:
On 11/wed/89, at about XX00 hours, I was wbound between homeland VOR and paradise VOR, in contact with ont approach, receiving VFR flight following. I was flying at 10500' MSL. I then requested and received an IFR clearance from ont approach. The clearance was to descend to 6500' direct to paradise VOR, V186 to vny, direct camarillo airport, my destination. It was during the descent, I believe between 10500' and 9500', I met head on with another aircraft traveling the opp direction. I took evasive action by pushing forward on the controls. The other aircraft passed slightly above and to my left (estimated 50-75'). I immediately contacted ont approach and advised them I just had a near miss. Their reply was 'roger.'
