Narrative:
I was on left base to runway 21 at gtf. Approach control advised that there was 'a problem with the original assigned runway #21' (about 3 mi from the airport), 'now plan runway 25.' I misidented a closed runway for runway 25, and having landing clearance for runway 25, I landed on the closed runway (old runway 28 or 29). The X which is faded and worn into the weeds identing the runway 'closed' was mistaken for a displaced threshold that does exist for runway 25. I had landed on runway 25 about 1 yr ago. At that time runway 25 was in poor shape and grown with weeds much like the closed runway. The closed runway does not appear on the plain view of the approach plate. This day follows 3 weeks of a very hard schedule including long duty times and short nights, and heated discussions at home over my long working hours lately. Airplane VNAV and altitude alerter became inoperative this day.

Title: LNDG ON CLOSED RWY.
Narrative: I WAS ON LEFT BASE TO RWY 21 AT GTF. APCH CTL ADVISED THAT THERE WAS 'A PROB WITH THE ORIGINAL ASSIGNED RWY #21' (ABOUT 3 MI FROM THE ARPT), 'NOW PLAN RWY 25.' I MISIDENTED A CLOSED RWY FOR RWY 25, AND HAVING LNDG CLRNC FOR RWY 25, I LANDED ON THE CLOSED RWY (OLD RWY 28 OR 29). THE X WHICH IS FADED AND WORN INTO THE WEEDS IDENTING THE RWY 'CLOSED' WAS MISTAKEN FOR A DISPLACED THRESHOLD THAT DOES EXIST FOR RWY 25. I HAD LANDED ON RWY 25 ABOUT 1 YR AGO. AT THAT TIME RWY 25 WAS IN POOR SHAPE AND GROWN WITH WEEDS MUCH LIKE THE CLOSED RWY. THE CLOSED RWY DOES NOT APPEAR ON THE PLAIN VIEW OF THE APCH PLATE. THIS DAY FOLLOWS 3 WKS OF A VERY HARD SCHEDULE INCLUDING LONG DUTY TIMES AND SHORT NIGHTS, AND HEATED DISCUSSIONS AT HOME OVER MY LONG WORKING HRS LATELY. AIRPLANE VNAV AND ALT ALERTER BECAME INOP THIS DAY.
