Narrative:

Cleared for ILS 26L approach den. Broke out about 1000' AGL. Braking action had been reported as fair. At about 500' AGL, the aircraft which had just landed reported the braking action as poor. Since there was a 6 KT tailwind reported, the captain elected to abandon the approach and a go around was begun at about 5700' MSL (367' AGL). The first officer began the go around (he had been flying up to this point), and the captain notified the tower that we were 'going around.' although the tower acknowledged our transmission, we were given no instructions, so we followed the published missed approach procedure which called for a right turn at 6500' MSL. After we had turned about 60-70 degrees to the right, the tower first issued a left-hand turn, then, realizing we were well into our right turn, advised us to continue a hard right turn to 080 degrees, that there was an aircraft lifting off one of the 35 runways, and that he had us both in sight. We immediately sighted the aircraft, continued our turn, and avoided the aircraft by a safe margin. Obviously, a left turn should have been issued as soon as we began our go around. Perhaps the missed approach procedure should be changed.

Title: POTENTIAL CONFLICT BETWEEN ACR HVT FLYING PUBLISHED MISSED APCH PROC AND UNKNOWN TRAFFIC DEPARTING INTERSECTING RWY.

Narrative: CLRED FOR ILS 26L APCH DEN. BROKE OUT ABOUT 1000' AGL. BRAKING ACTION HAD BEEN RPTED AS FAIR. AT ABOUT 500' AGL, THE ACFT WHICH HAD JUST LANDED RPTED THE BRAKING ACTION AS POOR. SINCE THERE WAS A 6 KT TAILWIND RPTED, THE CAPT ELECTED TO ABANDON THE APCH AND A GAR WAS BEGUN AT ABOUT 5700' MSL (367' AGL). THE F/O BEGAN THE GAR (HE HAD BEEN FLYING UP TO THIS POINT), AND THE CAPT NOTIFIED THE TWR THAT WE WERE 'GOING AROUND.' ALTHOUGH THE TWR ACKNOWLEDGED OUR XMISSION, WE WERE GIVEN NO INSTRUCTIONS, SO WE FOLLOWED THE PUBLISHED MISSED APCH PROC WHICH CALLED FOR A RIGHT TURN AT 6500' MSL. AFTER WE HAD TURNED ABOUT 60-70 DEGS TO THE RIGHT, THE TWR FIRST ISSUED A LEFT-HAND TURN, THEN, REALIZING WE WERE WELL INTO OUR RIGHT TURN, ADVISED US TO CONTINUE A HARD RIGHT TURN TO 080 DEGS, THAT THERE WAS AN ACFT LIFTING OFF ONE OF THE 35 RWYS, AND THAT HE HAD US BOTH IN SIGHT. WE IMMEDIATELY SIGHTED THE ACFT, CONTINUED OUR TURN, AND AVOIDED THE ACFT BY A SAFE MARGIN. OBVIOUSLY, A LEFT TURN SHOULD HAVE BEEN ISSUED AS SOON AS WE BEGAN OUR GAR. PERHAPS THE MISSED APCH PROC SHOULD BE CHANGED.
