Narrative:

After a very nice T/D by the captain I verified and announced 'speed brakes and lift dumpers out.' within 1 or 2 seconds the lift dumper indicators changed from 'out' to a 'barber pole' (not out, but not in) condition. I called this to the captain's attention and he acknowledged. Very shortly after that the tower controller called us and said he noted a lot of smoke coming from our right main landing gear. We heard and felt nothing unusual in the cockpit and the captain had not begun any brake application at the point the tower called us. The aircraft tracked right down the centerline during rollout giving no tendency to yaw. Tower had us clear the runway at an uncongested area and we contacted ground control. We had contacted company operations and asked for maintenance to come out and evaluate whether or not it was advisable to taxi to the gate. Maintenance evaluation was that the #3 main had gone flat, brakes were cool and everything else appeared normal; however, since the aircraft was in location where they could do maintenance, they elected the most conservative course of action, which was to do the maintenance there and bus the people to the terminal. We left in a crew bus for the terminal.

Narrative: AFTER A VERY NICE T/D BY THE CAPT I VERIFIED AND ANNOUNCED 'SPD BRAKES AND LIFT DUMPERS OUT.' WITHIN 1 OR 2 SECS THE LIFT DUMPER INDICATORS CHANGED FROM 'OUT' TO A 'BARBER POLE' (NOT OUT, BUT NOT IN) CONDITION. I CALLED THIS TO THE CAPT'S ATTN AND HE ACKNOWLEDGED. VERY SHORTLY AFTER THAT THE TWR CTLR CALLED US AND SAID HE NOTED A LOT OF SMOKE COMING FROM OUR RIGHT MAIN LNDG GEAR. WE HEARD AND FELT NOTHING UNUSUAL IN THE COCKPIT AND THE CAPT HAD NOT BEGUN ANY BRAKE APPLICATION AT THE POINT THE TWR CALLED US. THE ACFT TRACKED RIGHT DOWN THE CENTERLINE DURING ROLLOUT GIVING NO TENDENCY TO YAW. TWR HAD US CLR THE RWY AT AN UNCONGESTED AREA AND WE CONTACTED GND CTL. WE HAD CONTACTED COMPANY OPS AND ASKED FOR MAINT TO COME OUT AND EVALUATE WHETHER OR NOT IT WAS ADVISABLE TO TAXI TO THE GATE. MAINT EVALUATION WAS THAT THE #3 MAIN HAD GONE FLAT, BRAKES WERE COOL AND EVERYTHING ELSE APPEARED NORMAL; HOWEVER, SINCE THE ACFT WAS IN LOCATION WHERE THEY COULD DO MAINT, THEY ELECTED THE MOST CONSERVATIVE COURSE OF ACTION, WHICH WAS TO DO THE MAINT THERE AND BUS THE PEOPLE TO THE TERMINAL. WE LEFT IN A CREW BUS FOR THE TERMINAL.
