Narrative:
I was working the radar associate position at the nantucket sector. I noticed a discrete beacon code at FL290 well within the southern portion of our airspace. Looking up the code in the computer, I found a flight plan on a military aircraft that in remarks stated 'giant killer padra'. The flight plan showed he should be in west 105 (he was 40 mi south). I called giant killer (the air data computer unit for this area) and made inquiries. They indicated ZNY told them there was an active altrv in progress in that area. I called new york atlantic sector and they informed me there was an altrv skywriter in progress at FL290. Someone dropped the ball and did not inform us of an active military exercise taking place. The supervisor made an attempt to get information, but since our military desk is not manned on weekends, nothing could be found.
