Narrative:

9/89 local FBO mechanic instructed a new engine in small aircraft X. We test ran the engine and I, as owner/pilot, understood that an annual inspection had been completed at that time. In 10/89 the mechanic reset throttle-propeller governor setting, checked timing, general setup of new engine with 12.9 hours on it and made entry in logs, as this was the annual date. The aircraft was out of annual prior to 9/89, so the logs show that the aircraft was flown out of annual 12.9 hours.
