Narrative:
After landing on runway 30 I asked for progressive taxi to XXXX because I was unfamiliar. As I proceeded I was instructed to turn left onto an unlighted taxiway. As I proceeded I crossed a hold line and partially went onto runway 25 where a small aircraft was performing touch and go's. We both saw each other in plenty of time to stop. I was approximately 10' onto the runway. The ground control said they told me to hold short of runway 25. I must have missed the instruction. I believe part of the problem was the taxiway had no lights, plus the fact that I either missed the instruction or the ground control was stepped on during transmission. I think a possible solution would be when a pilot asks for progressive and is unfamiliar that they should confirm that you are going to hold as instructed. If a transmission is missed and an airplane does not look like it is going to stop, ground could confirm, if they have time. This could eliminate a potential hazardous situation. This situation was not close but certainly could have been. Maybe a requirement to read back like an IFR clearance would help.

Title: RWY TRANSGRESSION. TAXI ONTO ACTIVE RWY.
Narrative: AFTER LNDG ON RWY 30 I ASKED FOR PROGRESSIVE TAXI TO XXXX BECAUSE I WAS UNFAMILIAR. AS I PROCEEDED I WAS INSTRUCTED TO TURN L ONTO AN UNLIGHTED TXWY. AS I PROCEEDED I CROSSED A HOLD LINE AND PARTIALLY WENT ONTO RWY 25 WHERE A SMA WAS PERFORMING TOUCH AND GO'S. WE BOTH SAW EACH OTHER IN PLENTY OF TIME TO STOP. I WAS APPROX 10' ONTO THE RWY. THE GND CTL SAID THEY TOLD ME TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 25. I MUST HAVE MISSED THE INSTRUCTION. I BELIEVE PART OF THE PROB WAS THE TXWY HAD NO LIGHTS, PLUS THE FACT THAT I EITHER MISSED THE INSTRUCTION OR THE GND CTL WAS STEPPED ON DURING XMISSION. I THINK A POSSIBLE SOLUTION WOULD BE WHEN A PLT ASKS FOR PROGRESSIVE AND IS UNFAMILIAR THAT THEY SHOULD CONFIRM THAT YOU ARE GOING TO HOLD AS INSTRUCTED. IF A XMISSION IS MISSED AND AN AIRPLANE DOES NOT LOOK LIKE IT IS GOING TO STOP, GND COULD CONFIRM, IF THEY HAVE TIME. THIS COULD ELIMINATE A POTENTIAL HAZARDOUS SITUATION. THIS SITUATION WAS NOT CLOSE BUT CERTAINLY COULD HAVE BEEN. MAYBE A REQUIREMENT TO READ BACK LIKE AN IFR CLRNC WOULD HELP.
