Narrative:
After pushback from gate in charlotte, ramp control cleared aircraft to spot 7. We proceeded to spot 7, switched to ground gtl and was advised to proceed to runway 18L. Captain understood clearance to be runway 36R (same runway, opp direction) and turned right on romeo taxiway and xed runway 23 proceeding towards taxiway 'charlie' to turn right and taxi to the departure end of runway 36R. Since the captain understood the taxi clearance to be to runway 36R, he did not rechk that he was 'cleared to cross ' runway 23 since the clearance was issued all the way to the runway with no holding instructions. Upon crossing runway 23, both captain and first officer realized that clearance was to runway 18L and not runway 36R. Captain turned left on taxiway 'charlie' to hold short of runway 18L and first officer requested back taxi into position for takeoff. The aircraft was cleared for takeoff and proceeded to destination airport. Supplemental information from acn 144310. The captain had flown 7 out of the 8 days and was fatigued. At the time of turn at 'right' taxiway and crossing runway 23, the first officer was preoccupied with paperwork and was not monitoring the taxi progress until after crossing the active runway.

Title: ACR MLG TAXIS FOR WRONG RWY AT CLT, ENTERS ANOTHER ACTIVE RWY.
Narrative: AFTER PUSHBACK FROM GATE IN CHARLOTTE, RAMP CTL CLRED ACFT TO SPOT 7. WE PROCEEDED TO SPOT 7, SWITCHED TO GND GTL AND WAS ADVISED TO PROCEED TO RWY 18L. CAPT UNDERSTOOD CLRNC TO BE RWY 36R (SAME RWY, OPP DIRECTION) AND TURNED R ON ROMEO TXWY AND XED RWY 23 PROCEEDING TOWARDS TXWY 'CHARLIE' TO TURN R AND TAXI TO THE DEP END OF RWY 36R. SINCE THE CAPT UNDERSTOOD THE TAXI CLRNC TO BE TO RWY 36R, HE DID NOT RECHK THAT HE WAS 'CLRED TO CROSS ' RWY 23 SINCE THE CLRNC WAS ISSUED ALL THE WAY TO THE RWY WITH NO HOLDING INSTRUCTIONS. UPON XING RWY 23, BOTH CAPT AND F/O REALIZED THAT CLRNC WAS TO RWY 18L AND NOT RWY 36R. CAPT TURNED L ON TXWY 'CHARLIE' TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 18L AND F/O REQUESTED BACK TAXI INTO POS FOR TKOF. THE ACFT WAS CLRED FOR TKOF AND PROCEEDED TO DEST ARPT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 144310. THE CAPT HAD FLOWN 7 OUT OF THE 8 DAYS AND WAS FATIGUED. AT THE TIME OF TURN AT 'R' TXWY AND XING RWY 23, THE F/O WAS PREOCCUPIED WITH PAPERWORK AND WAS NOT MONITORING THE TAXI PROGRESS UNTIL AFTER XING THE ACTIVE RWY.
