Narrative:
I always insist that I be in the cockpit and copy clrncs when the first officer gets it so 2 minds are applied and I usually check the route then. This time the first officer got the clearance alone. No bd. Flight oak to lgb usually gets an offshore SID with a made up transition to big sur 131 right, thence to the catalina 107 inbound. When I hurriedly copied the clearance from the first officer I didn't pay full attention to the transition which had been changed to flw, tandy 2 arrival, due to vandenburg range space in use. First officer's leg, he flew our normal route, bsr 131R we were 10 or so mi off course before center asked us our routing. His leg, my responsibility and complacency, routine and inattention lead us astray.

Title: CLRNC HAD BEEN CHANGED FROM NORMAL. CHANGE WAS MISSED AND COURSE DEVIAITON RESULTED.
Narrative: I ALWAYS INSIST THAT I BE IN THE COCKPIT AND COPY CLRNCS WHEN THE F/O GETS IT SO 2 MINDS ARE APPLIED AND I USUALLY CHK THE RTE THEN. THIS TIME THE F/O GOT THE CLRNC ALONE. NO BD. FLT OAK TO LGB USUALLY GETS AN OFFSHORE SID WITH A MADE UP TRANSITION TO BIG SUR 131 R, THENCE TO THE CATALINA 107 INBND. WHEN I HURRIEDLY COPIED THE CLRNC FROM THE F/O I DIDN'T PAY FULL ATTN TO THE TRANSITION WHICH HAD BEEN CHANGED TO FLW, TANDY 2 ARR, DUE TO VANDENBURG RANGE SPACE IN USE. F/O'S LEG, HE FLEW OUR NORMAL RTE, BSR 131R WE WERE 10 OR SO MI OFF COURSE BEFORE CTR ASKED US OUR RTING. HIS LEG, MY RESPONSIBILITY AND COMPLACENCY, ROUTINE AND INATTENTION LEAD US ASTRAY.
