Narrative:
Single engine shutdown due to apparently failed fuel control on #2 engine just prior to level off at FL260, all primary engine instruments on #2 engine froze regardless of throttle position (N1, N2, egt, fuel flow). Initial indications hinted at possible electrical malfunction to instruments. Recycled appropriate cbs with no change in engine indications. Increased fuel consumption from #2 fuel tank and noticeable yaw hinted at possible stuck throttle or fuel control. First officer inspected #2 engine in flight from the cabin and confirmed engine was operating at high power setting. #2 engine shutdown following appropriate engine shutdown procedures and uneventful single engine autoplt-coupled approach performed.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ACR MLG FLT CREW SHUTS DOWN ENGINE INFLT DUE TO INABILITY TO CONTROL THRUST SETTING.
Narrative: SINGLE ENG SHUTDOWN DUE TO APPARENTLY FAILED FUEL CTL ON #2 ENG JUST PRIOR TO LEVEL OFF AT FL260, ALL PRIMARY ENG INSTRUMENTS ON #2 ENG FROZE REGARDLESS OF THROTTLE POS (N1, N2, EGT, FUEL FLOW). INITIAL INDICATIONS HINTED AT POSSIBLE ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION TO INSTRUMENTS. RECYCLED APPROPRIATE CBS WITH NO CHANGE IN ENG INDICATIONS. INCREASED FUEL CONSUMPTION FROM #2 FUEL TANK AND NOTICEABLE YAW HINTED AT POSSIBLE STUCK THROTTLE OR FUEL CTL. F/O INSPECTED #2 ENG IN FLT FROM THE CABIN AND CONFIRMED ENG WAS OPERATING AT HIGH PWR SETTING. #2 ENG SHUTDOWN FOLLOWING APPROPRIATE ENG SHUTDOWN PROCS AND UNEVENTFUL SINGLE ENG AUTOPLT-COUPLED APCH PERFORMED.
