Narrative:
Fire alert on number 1 engine. Blocked out with a list of 7 mels including a lavatory inoperative with a 3 hour 50 minute flight time. In addition; we discovered this aircraft had previous history/write up with a previous engine fire alert. How do I think this type of event can be prevented? Fix the engine properly and flight test before putting aircraft back online.
