Narrative:
After takeoff the left gen fail light illuminated. We ran the checklist and attempted one unsuccessful reset of the left generator. We then disconnected the left CSD (constant speed drive) per the checklist. After starting the APU it ran normally for approximately 5 minutes and then the APU generator tripped off line. At this point we were down to only one generator so I [advised ATC] and diverted to the nearest airport. We landed uneventfully.
