Narrative:

Near miss occurred while flight was on radar vectors for localizer backcourse 18 rfd. On downwind heading 360 degrees at 3000' MSL, rfd approach reported numerous targets at our 12 O'clock, possible glider traffic. I immediately spotted glider Y at my 12 O'clock, less than 1 mi, headed directly toward us. I instantly initiated a right climbing turn. Glider Y passed on my left at the same altitude. No other traffic positions were given to us from rfd approach. My flight landed at rfd west/O incident on complication. I feel that this incident might not have happened had we received earlier notification of glider traffic in the area. I would have preferred that my aircraft was not vectored near any of the glider traffic.
