Narrative:
We were a VFR aircraft on descent to sna when approach gave us an urgent 30 degree vector for traffic. The other aircraft (a commuter) was on an IFR flight plan and was never given a turn. It seems to me that ATC is reluctant to give IFR aircraft turns for VFR traffic. If that would have happened we would not have come so close.
