Narrative:
In preparation for a scheduled flight form phl to mia, it was decided that a routing change would save considerable time and fuel for the flight. The company dispatcher was telephone and a new flight plan was filed. After some time a computer copy of the new release and flight plan were delivered to the cockpit. Later still we called for clearance from ATC. The clearance was given as filed and so accepted. After crossing the sby VOR and continuing on J209 the ZDC controller informed us that he was expecting our flight to turn at sby onto J79. We quickly informed him that our company had filed a second flight plan with J209 as part of the route. He told us he had not received a new flight plan, however he would accept the routing direct from us. Except for a climb clearance that was withdrawn there appeared to be no direct conflict with other aircraft. Although it is unpopular at many major airports, a full readback of ATC clrncs is the only way to prevent a recurrence.

Title: ACR MLG TRACK HEADING DEVIATION. THE FLT CREW HAD REQUESTED A SECOND FLT PLAN AND WHEN 'CLEARED AS FILED' NO ONE QUESTIONED WHICH FLT PLAN HAD BEEN FILED.
Narrative: IN PREPARATION FOR A SCHEDULED FLT FORM PHL TO MIA, IT WAS DECIDED THAT A RTING CHANGE WOULD SAVE CONSIDERABLE TIME AND FUEL FOR THE FLT. THE COMPANY DISPATCHER WAS TELEPHONE AND A NEW FLT PLAN WAS FILED. AFTER SOME TIME A COMPUTER COPY OF THE NEW RELEASE AND FLT PLAN WERE DELIVERED TO THE COCKPIT. LATER STILL WE CALLED FOR CLRNC FROM ATC. THE CLRNC WAS GIVEN AS FILED AND SO ACCEPTED. AFTER XING THE SBY VOR AND CONTINUING ON J209 THE ZDC CTLR INFORMED US THAT HE WAS EXPECTING OUR FLT TO TURN AT SBY ONTO J79. WE QUICKLY INFORMED HIM THAT OUR COMPANY HAD FILED A SECOND FLT PLAN WITH J209 AS PART OF THE RTE. HE TOLD US HE HAD NOT RECEIVED A NEW FLT PLAN, HOWEVER HE WOULD ACCEPT THE RTING DIRECT FROM US. EXCEPT FOR A CLB CLRNC THAT WAS WITHDRAWN THERE APPEARED TO BE NO DIRECT CONFLICT WITH OTHER ACFT. ALTHOUGH IT IS UNPOPULAR AT MANY MAJOR ARPTS, A FULL READBACK OF ATC CLRNCS IS THE ONLY WAY TO PREVENT A RECURRENCE.
