Narrative:

I was on a flight to wenatchee, wa, (eat). I taxied to runway 25 at intersection lima. I was given a clearance to taxi into position to hold on runway 25 at lima and west/O further clearance I departed runway 25. Just prior to my clearance to taxi into position to hold a metroliner was given a clearance to takeoff from runway 21. The crew noticed that I had departed runway 25 and called the tower and asked, 'is that an airplane ahead of us.' tower immediately called me and advised me that I was only given a clearance to taxi into position to hold, not for takeoff. At that point I realized my mistake but was already through the intersecting runway, so there was no evasive action necessary. As far as how to avoid this situation from happening again in the future, there really is no excuse for my actions. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information. Reporter stated he holds a communication and instrument rating. Fly hours total 1700, in type 1000. Reporter stated he thinks both aircraft were airborne but does how close they came. Reporter refused to review the incident with the tower. FAA has sent a letter of proposed suspension of license.
