Narrative:

We were in cruise flight at FL290 when we observed #1 engine oil quantity drop to 0. Oil pressure began falling into caution, then warning zones on EICAS screen. A check of both EICAS computers confirmed oil loss along with left engine low oil pressure light on. Engine shutdown accomplished in accordance with company procedures. A shallow left turn was made to return to dfw and an emergency was declared. F/a's were briefed for emergency landing and possible ground evacuate/evacuation. Engine out landing and emergency landing checklists accomplished and an uneventful landing made at dfw.
