Narrative:

Prior to departure the flight crew noticed the pin in the halon fire extinguisher was missing in the cockpit. Maintenance came and decided to replace their fire extinguisher with the fire extinguisher from 1L. Then when we asked if they were going to replace the 1L extinguisher. They took the one from the one aft of the aircraft; telling us we didn't need it [and] leaving us with only water extinguishers in the back. Being most classes of fires require halon; this is unsafe. Being time is of the essence when fighting a fire; we wouldn't have time to run to the front of the AC for a halon which could cost many lives.
