Narrative:
Flight attendant called on interphone to advise that the cardboard top on a first class meal had flamed up in the oven and that she had put it out with a halon extinguisher. Attempted to contact operations by radio -- finally sent ACARS message and then was able to contact by radio. Flight attendant training regarding use of ovens without the rack installed.

Title: FLT ATTENDANT PUT OUT A FIRE IN THE GALLEY WITH HALON EXTINGUISHER.
Narrative: FLT ATTENDANT CALLED ON INTERPHONE TO ADVISE THAT THE CARDBOARD TOP ON A FIRST CLASS MEAL HAD FLAMED UP IN THE OVEN AND THAT SHE HAD PUT IT OUT WITH A HALON EXTINGUISHER. ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT OPS BY RADIO -- FINALLY SENT ACARS MESSAGE AND THEN WAS ABLE TO CONTACT BY RADIO. FLT ATTENDANT TRAINING REGARDING USE OF OVENS WITHOUT THE RACK INSTALLED.
