Narrative:
We were cleared to proceed inbound on the 31R localizer at dfw for a stadium visibility approach to 31R. We were cleared to maintain 3000' and were doing it when our TCAS ii gave us a TA, followed by an RA telling us to 'climb' at 2000 FPM. It showed the traffic at 12 O'clock level at our altitude. We climbed to 3500', got a 'clear of traffic' advisory from TCAS ii and then returned to 3000', advising approach control what we were doing. We did this altitude deviation in accordance with TCAS ii procedures and never saw the traffic that approach advised us was VFR at 2500' after we had made our deviation.

Title: ACR MLG ALT DEVIATION EXCURSION FROM CLRNC ALT IN RESPONSE TO TCAS II RA.
Narrative: WE WERE CLRED TO PROCEED INBND ON THE 31R LOC AT DFW FOR A STADIUM VIS APCH TO 31R. WE WERE CLRED TO MAINTAIN 3000' AND WERE DOING IT WHEN OUR TCAS II GAVE US A TA, FOLLOWED BY AN RA TELLING US TO 'CLB' AT 2000 FPM. IT SHOWED THE TFC AT 12 O'CLOCK LEVEL AT OUR ALT. WE CLBED TO 3500', GOT A 'CLR OF TFC' ADVISORY FROM TCAS II AND THEN RETURNED TO 3000', ADVISING APCH CTL WHAT WE WERE DOING. WE DID THIS ALT DEVIATION IN ACCORDANCE WITH TCAS II PROCS AND NEVER SAW THE TFC THAT APCH ADVISED US WAS VFR AT 2500' AFTER WE HAD MADE OUR DEVIATION.
