Narrative:

While level at FL240 TCAS issued a traffic alert. The only aircraft shown on the TCAS screen was climbing to FL230 heading north and presently 2500' below our altitude. When that aircraft came within 2200' the TCAS issued a traffic resolution instructing us to 'climb'. I immediately initiated a climb and informed ATC. First officer climbed the aircraft to 24800' at which point the other aircraft was no longer a threat. Then returned to assigned altitude of FL240.
