Narrative:

Shuttle (our) aircraft was given clearance to land on ry 18 at denver stapleton. On landing rollout and prior to exiting runway 18, denver tower instructed shuttle aircraft to exit at T-2 and taxi via lima taxiway and contact ground at lima-3, and give way to aircraft exiting 17R. Approximately 3 mins later as shuttle aircraft approached the intersection of lima-6 and lima txwys an air carrier aircraft suddenly appeared into view converging on shuttle aircraft at a high rate of speed off lima-6 taxiway. At this time shuttle aircraft veered to the right side of lima taxiway while the air carrier aircraft appled brakes. Shuttle crew could not see and, therefore, cold not give way to an aircraft approaching from behind at a greater taxi speed and in a direction parallel to semi-parallel to shuttle aircraft. In other words, due to the approximately 45 degree angle of lima-6 to lima txwys, air carrier aircraft approached shuttle aircraft from the blind side at an overtaking taxi speed. Denver tower's general and catch-all instruction to shuttle aircraft to give way to aircraft exiting runway 17R was not sufficient to avoid this conflict. Furthermore, this instruction was given while shuttle aircraft was still on runway 18, approximately 3 mins prior to the incident. It seems apparent that the sequence of events began behind and out of view of the shuttle aircraft. It also appears that the air carrier crew would have had the advantageous position to see and avoid during landing rollout and taxi off runway 17R and onto L-6 taxiway. It is the opinion of the shuttle crew that the conflict could have been avoided if denver tower had specifically instructed one aircraft to hold for the other at the intersecting txwys and if the air carrier crew had been taxiing at a slower speed. Supplemental information from acn 181213. This could have been avoided by issuing instructions for our aircraft to hold short of lima or of lima 5 orl. An aircraft of our type should be visible from behind when approached for several thousand feet on a parallel runway. Supplemental information from acn 181212. At the gate I observed all four main tires to have severe flat spots, all four tires were changed. I then called airport manager and learned that he had filed a pilot deviation report on the shuttle pilot.

Title: GND CONFLICT BETWEEN COMMUTER LTT TAXIING IN AFTER LNDG AND ACR MLG CLRING THE RWY.

Narrative: SHUTTLE (OUR) ACFT WAS GIVEN CLRNC TO LAND ON RY 18 AT DENVER STAPLETON. ON LNDG ROLLOUT AND PRIOR TO EXITING RWY 18, DENVER TWR INSTRUCTED SHUTTLE ACFT TO EXIT AT T-2 AND TAXI VIA LIMA TXWY AND CONTACT GND AT LIMA-3, AND GIVE WAY TO ACFT EXITING 17R. APPROX 3 MINS LATER AS SHUTTLE ACFT APCHED THE INTXN OF LIMA-6 AND LIMA TXWYS AN ACR ACFT SUDDENLY APPEARED INTO VIEW CONVERGING ON SHUTTLE ACFT AT A HIGH RATE OF SPD OFF LIMA-6 TXWY. AT THIS TIME SHUTTLE ACFT VEERED TO THE R SIDE OF LIMA TXWY WHILE THE ACR ACFT APPLED BRAKES. SHUTTLE CREW COULD NOT SEE AND, THEREFORE, COLD NOT GIVE WAY TO AN ACFT APCHING FROM BEHIND AT A GREATER TAXI SPD AND IN A DIRECTION PARALLEL TO SEMI-PARALLEL TO SHUTTLE ACFT. IN OTHER WORDS, DUE TO THE APPROX 45 DEG ANGLE OF LIMA-6 TO LIMA TXWYS, ACR ACFT APCHED SHUTTLE ACFT FROM THE BLIND SIDE AT AN OVERTAKING TAXI SPD. DENVER TWR'S GENERAL AND CATCH-ALL INSTRUCTION TO SHUTTLE ACFT TO GIVE WAY TO ACFT EXITING RWY 17R WAS NOT SUFFICIENT TO AVOID THIS CONFLICT. FURTHERMORE, THIS INSTRUCTION WAS GIVEN WHILE SHUTTLE ACFT WAS STILL ON RWY 18, APPROX 3 MINS PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. IT SEEMS APPARENT THAT THE SEQUENCE OF EVENTS BEGAN BEHIND AND OUT OF VIEW OF THE SHUTTLE ACFT. IT ALSO APPEARS THAT THE ACR CREW WOULD HAVE HAD THE ADVANTAGEOUS POS TO SEE AND AVOID DURING LNDG ROLLOUT AND TAXI OFF RWY 17R AND ONTO L-6 TXWY. IT IS THE OPINION OF THE SHUTTLE CREW THAT THE CONFLICT COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED IF DENVER TWR HAD SPECIFICALLY INSTRUCTED ONE ACFT TO HOLD FOR THE OTHER AT THE INTERSECTING TXWYS AND IF THE ACR CREW HAD BEEN TAXIING AT A SLOWER SPD. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 181213. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED BY ISSUING INSTRUCTIONS FOR OUR ACFT TO HOLD SHORT OF LIMA OR OF LIMA 5 ORL. AN ACFT OF OUR TYPE SHOULD BE VISIBLE FROM BEHIND WHEN APCHED FOR SEVERAL THOUSAND FEET ON A PARALLEL RWY. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 181212. AT THE GATE I OBSERVED ALL FOUR MAIN TIRES TO HAVE SEVERE FLAT SPOTS, ALL FOUR TIRES WERE CHANGED. I THEN CALLED ARPT MGR AND LEARNED THAT HE HAD FILED A PLT DEV RPT ON THE SHUTTLE PLT.
