Narrative:

After landing on 17L at den, during taxi on 'left', I went off the air to call company for gate information and connecting gate information (captain monitoring tower frequency, changeover to ground frequency was to be at L3). As we were approaching L5, I looked up to tell the captain of our gate confirmation. At that same time, he was looking out his window just in time to see a company widebody transport speeding off 17R at L5. He stomped on the brakes and we held our position, no word from tower. Then, to our horror, we watched the widebody transport barely make the turn onto 'left'. It was turning so hard I saw smoke coming from the tires. Widebody transport continued to swerve, with the right main going off the taxiway and smashing 1 of the taxiway lights. I really thought it had lost braking and was going to go in the ditch on the west side of the taxiway, but they managed to swerve back onto the taxiway. We later contacted ramp frequency and told to call us at our gate. The widebody transport captain came to our gate to talk to the captain. He said tower had cleared them to take L5 onto left and they were all shaken up when they saw us so close. My captain told him about the taxiway light (which he was surprised to hear about) and left everything in his hands. I did not hear if they were indeed cleared by tower to take L5 to left since I was on another frequency. The captain doesn't remember hearing the clearance, but he might not have been paying attention. I did not hear the conversation between the 2 capts. In any case, assuming the worse case (that tower cleared them), 1) they should have seen us, and 2) they were too fast. This incident will definitely reinforce the 'clear right' habit, but I don't know how the fast exit can be prevented except by the obvious. Perhaps the widebody transport captain was new to wdbs and the height of his cockpit deceived him into thinking he was slower. Perhaps he was in a rush.

Title: WDB MAKING HIGH SPEED TURN ONTO TAXIWAY ENDANGERED MLG ON THAT TAXIWAY.

Narrative: AFTER LNDG ON 17L AT DEN, DURING TAXI ON 'L', I WENT OFF THE AIR TO CALL COMPANY FOR GATE INFORMATION AND CONNECTING GATE INFO (CAPT MONITORING TWR FREQ, CHANGEOVER TO GND FREQ WAS TO BE AT L3). HE STOMPED ON THE BRAKES AND WE HELD OUR POS, NO WORD FROM TWR. THEN, TO OUR HORROR, WE WATCHED THE WDB BARELY MAKE THE TURN ONTO 'L'. IT WAS TURNING SO HARD I SAW SMOKE COMING FROM THE TIRES. WDB CONTINUED TO SWERVE, WITH THE R MAIN GOING OFF THE TAXIWAY AND SMASHING 1 OF THE TAXIWAY LIGHTS. I REALLY THOUGHT IT HAD LOST BRAKING AND WAS GOING TO GO IN THE DITCH ON THE W SIDE OF THE TAXIWAY, BUT THEY MANAGED TO SWERVE BACK ONTO THE TAXIWAY. WE LATER CONTACTED RAMP FREQ AND TOLD TO CALL US AT OUR GATE. THE WDB CAPT CAME TO OUR GATE TO TALK TO THE CAPT. HE SAID TWR HAD CLRED THEM TO TAKE L5 ONTO L AND THEY WERE ALL SHAKEN UP WHEN THEY SAW US SO CLOSE. MY CAPT TOLD HIM ABOUT THE TAXIWAY LIGHT (WHICH HE WAS SURPRISED TO HEAR ABOUT) AND LEFT EVERYTHING IN HIS HANDS. I DID NOT HEAR IF THEY WERE INDEED CLRED BY TWR TO TAKE L5 TO L SINCE I WAS ON ANOTHER FREQ. THE CAPT DOESN'T REMEMBER HEARING THE CLRNC, BUT HE MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN PAYING ATTN. I DID NOT HEAR THE CONVERSATION BTWN THE 2 CAPTS. IN ANY CASE, ASSUMING THE WORSE CASE (THAT TWR CLRED THEM), 1) THEY SHOULD HAVE SEEN US, AND 2) THEY WERE TOO FAST. THIS INCIDENT WILL DEFINITELY REINFORCE THE 'CLR RIGHT' HABIT, BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW THE FAST EXIT CAN BE PREVENTED EXCEPT BY THE OBVIOUS. PERHAPS THE WDB CAPT WAS NEW TO WDBS AND THE HEIGHT OF HIS COCKPIT DECEIVED HIM INTO THINKING HE WAS SLOWER. PERHAPS HE WAS IN A RUSH.
