Narrative:
I landed aircraft, captain assumed control of aircraft through 80 KTS. Tower instructed to clear left taxiway or clear left at end of runway. Captain cleared runway to right on inactive taxiway. Tower instructed an aircraft on 1/2 mi final to go around, tower thought we were doing a 180 on runway. We did a 90 off runway. We were going to east side (hangar) they thought we were going to west side (gate). At all times there was no unsafe condition. Aircraft on go around was on short final when our aircraft completely cleared runway. Contributing factors: 13 hours in duty. It's hard for me to believe that dispatchers can work 10 hours maximum on a chair, but pilots can put a 14 hour duty day in and out of airplanes. We had flown 5 1/2 hours flight time by this point. Another factor, captain had 800 plus hours in right seat, but only 50 hours in left seat -- taxiing. He heard left twice from ATC, and once from me, but still cleared right. I could have landed on the TDZ, I landed long, we missed all the appropriate taxiways, the crew was very tired from previous reserve duties.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: LTT ACR TURNED OFF RWY ONTO CLOSED TAXIWAY.
Narrative: I LANDED ACFT, CAPT ASSUMED CTL OF ACFT THROUGH 80 KTS. TWR INSTRUCTED TO CLR L TAXIWAY OR CLR L AT END OF RWY. CAPT CLRED RWY TO R ON INACTIVE TAXIWAY. TWR INSTRUCTED AN ACFT ON 1/2 MI FINAL TO GAR, TWR THOUGHT WE WERE DOING A 180 ON RWY. WE DID A 90 OFF RWY. WE WERE GOING TO E SIDE (HANGAR) THEY THOUGHT WE WERE GOING TO W SIDE (GATE). AT ALL TIMES THERE WAS NO UNSAFE CONDITION. ACFT ON GAR WAS ON SHORT FINAL WHEN OUR ACFT COMPLETELY CLRED RWY. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: 13 HRS IN DUTY. IT'S HARD FOR ME TO BELIEVE THAT DISPATCHERS CAN WORK 10 HRS MAX ON A CHAIR, BUT PLTS CAN PUT A 14 HR DUTY DAY IN AND OUT OF AIRPLANES. WE HAD FLOWN 5 1/2 HRS FLT TIME BY THIS POINT. ANOTHER FACTOR, CAPT HAD 800 PLUS HRS IN R SEAT, BUT ONLY 50 HRS IN L SEAT -- TAXIING. HE HEARD L TWICE FROM ATC, AND ONCE FROM ME, BUT STILL CLRED R. I COULD HAVE LANDED ON THE TDZ, I LANDED LONG, WE MISSED ALL THE APPROPRIATE TAXIWAYS, THE CREW WAS VERY TIRED FROM PREVIOUS RESERVE DUTIES.
