Narrative:
We were flying an medium large transport. The other plane was probably an small aircraft. The first officer was the PF our plane. We departed mke (runway 7R), heading 250 degree (within 5 NM south of airport). Climbing to 11000 ft. Departure control (119.65) said 'TA at 7200 ft, 10-11 O'clock, 2 mi, unverified. Suggest you level off.' we did at 6900 ft and descended to 6500 ft. He also gave us a 210 degree heading. We were in the turn when the first officer saw the plane. He continued the turn and leveled at 6500 ft for avoidance. We think the plane was an small aircraft probably headed northwest.

Narrative: WE WERE FLYING AN MLG. THE OTHER PLANE WAS PROBABLY AN SMA. THE FO WAS THE PF OUR PLANE. WE DEPARTED MKE (RWY 7R), HDG 250 DEG (WITHIN 5 NM S OF ARPT). CLBING TO 11000 FT. DEP CTL (119.65) SAID 'TA AT 7200 FT, 10-11 O'CLOCK, 2 MI, UNVERIFIED. SUGGEST YOU LEVEL OFF.' WE DID AT 6900 FT AND DSNDED TO 6500 FT. HE ALSO GAVE US A 210 DEG HDG. WE WERE IN THE TURN WHEN THE FO SAW THE PLANE. HE CONTINUED THE TURN AND LEVELED AT 6500 FT FOR AVOIDANCE. WE THINK THE PLANE WAS AN SMA PROBABLY HEADED NW.
