Narrative:

I departed sbound of the natchitoches airport (3r8), where I practiced holding procedures. After completing the exercises I turned to a northwesterly heading. Upon reaching practice area #1 I began to practice commercial maneuvers. After completing several maneuvers I decided to perform emergency operation procedures which would include an emergency approach to landing. Before beginning the procedure I checked and 'cleared' the field of intended 'landing'. It was at this time I deemed it free of any dangerous obstacles and well within clearance limits set by far 91.119. During the observation pass my altitude was between 800 ft to 1000 ft MSL. After completing the check of the field I practiced chandelles to an altitude of approximately 3000 ft MSL. At this point I pulled power and began my descent to the field which I previously cleared. All went as planned until I was preparing to begin the balked landing climb out procedures. It was at this time I encountered a single, black power or telephone line. At this point the aircraft 'shuttered' briefly. I immediately put the aircraft into a slightly nose high attitude to begin a slow, shallow climb. After checking the aircraft's system and feeling comfortable with the aircraft's performance I turned the aircraft to an approximately southeast heading to return to the natchitoches airport (3r8). The rest of the flight the aircraft performed as normal. On aug/xx/91 I went accompanied by a flight instructor to survey any damages to power lines in the approximately area of my flight, however none were found.

Title: PRIVATE PLT PRACTICING EMER LNDG HITS PWR LINE.

Narrative: I DEPARTED SBOUND OF THE NATCHITOCHES ARPT (3R8), WHERE I PRACTICED HOLDING PROCS. AFTER COMPLETING THE EXERCISES I TURNED TO A NORTHWESTERLY HDG. UPON REACHING PRACTICE AREA #1 I BEGAN TO PRACTICE COMMERCIAL MANEUVERS. AFTER COMPLETING SEVERAL MANEUVERS I DECIDED TO PERFORM EMER OP PROCS WHICH WOULD INCLUDE AN EMER APCH TO LNDG. BEFORE BEGINNING THE PROC I CHKED AND 'CLRED' THE FIELD OF INTENDED 'LNDG'. IT WAS AT THIS TIME I DEEMED IT FREE OF ANY DANGEROUS OBSTACLES AND WELL WITHIN CLRNC LIMITS SET BY FAR 91.119. DURING THE OBSERVATION PASS MY ALT WAS BTWN 800 FT TO 1000 FT MSL. AFTER COMPLETING THE CHK OF THE FIELD I PRACTICED CHANDELLES TO AN ALT OF APPROX 3000 FT MSL. AT THIS POINT I PULLED PWR AND BEGAN MY DSCNT TO THE FIELD WHICH I PREVIOUSLY CLRED. ALL WENT AS PLANNED UNTIL I WAS PREPARING TO BEGIN THE BALKED LNDG CLB OUT PROCS. IT WAS AT THIS TIME I ENCOUNTERED A SINGLE, BLACK PWR OR TELEPHONE LINE. AT THIS POINT THE ACFT 'SHUTTERED' BRIEFLY. I IMMEDIATELY PUT THE ACFT INTO A SLIGHTLY NOSE HIGH ATTITUDE TO BEGIN A SLOW, SHALLOW CLB. AFTER CHKING THE ACFT'S SYS AND FEELING COMFORTABLE WITH THE ACFT'S PERFORMANCE I TURNED THE ACFT TO AN APPROX SE HDG TO RETURN TO THE NATCHITOCHES ARPT (3R8). THE REST OF THE FLT THE ACFT PERFORMED AS NORMAL. ON AUG/XX/91 I WENT ACCOMPANIED BY A FLT INSTRUCTOR TO SURVEY ANY DAMAGES TO PWR LINES IN THE APPROX AREA OF MY FLT, HOWEVER NONE WERE FOUND.
