Narrative:
Lax center advised us of traffic nebound, 12 O'clock, 8 mi, 13500 ft unconfirmed. Seconds later, ATC advised us of the same traffic, 3 mi, 12 O'clock, 13500 ft. We were looking into the sun and the traffic was not visible. TCASII then indicated an RA climb at 1700-2000 FPM. We responded and told ATC. Our climb stopped at 14600 ft. The traffic was finally spotted at our 2 O'clock position approximately 300 ft below us. I feel that TCASII worked well in this situation.
