Narrative:

After takeoff we switched to departure control. TCASII was giving loud 'traffic' warnings making it hard to hear anything else in the cockpit. First warning I heard from departure control was 'traffic 11 O'clock, less than a mi'. We spotted small airplane moving left to right (heading about 260 degrees at 2100 ft). Our heading was 170 degrees. I took evasive action by increasing climb rate and turning to about 140 degrees. Our proximity at closest point was probably 200-400 ft as we passed through scattered clouds at 2200 ft. Other aircraft was level at 2100 ft and I'm not sure he ever saw us.

Narrative: AFTER TKOF WE SWITCHED TO DEP CTL. TCASII WAS GIVING LOUD 'TFC' WARNINGS MAKING IT HARD TO HEAR ANYTHING ELSE IN THE COCKPIT. FIRST WARNING I HEARD FROM DEP CTL WAS 'TFC 11 O'CLOCK, LESS THAN A MI'. WE SPOTTED SMALL AIRPLANE MOVING L TO R (HDG ABOUT 260 DEGS AT 2100 FT). OUR HDG WAS 170 DEGS. I TOOK EVASIVE ACTION BY INCREASING CLB RATE AND TURNING TO ABOUT 140 DEGS. OUR PROX AT CLOSEST POINT WAS PROBABLY 200-400 FT AS WE PASSED THROUGH SCATTERED CLOUDS AT 2200 FT. OTHER ACFT WAS LEVEL AT 2100 FT AND I'M NOT SURE HE EVER SAW US.
