Narrative:

While on descent into clt and at 11000 ft we were issued a clearance of 'descend and maintain 10000 ft and keep your speed up.' we read back the clearance and started our descent. At 10300 ft we picked up a visual on back end of an mdt at 10100 ft. Approach told us to maintain 11000 ft and our TCASII started to tell us to descend. We responded to approach that we were already at 10000 ft and that we had the traffic in sight. At that point the controller instructed us to maintain 10000 ft and maintain visual separation with the mdt. No quick maneuvering was required only a slight correction to the right in order to increase separation to a more comfortable distance.

Title: CLOSE PROX ACR MLG AND SAME DIRECTION COMMUTER MDT INBOUND TO CLT.

Narrative: WHILE ON DSCNT INTO CLT AND AT 11000 FT WE WERE ISSUED A CLRNC OF 'DSND AND MAINTAIN 10000 FT AND KEEP YOUR SPD UP.' WE READ BACK THE CLRNC AND STARTED OUR DSCNT. AT 10300 FT WE PICKED UP A VISUAL ON BACK END OF AN MDT AT 10100 FT. APCH TOLD US TO MAINTAIN 11000 FT AND OUR TCASII STARTED TO TELL US TO DSND. WE RESPONDED TO APCH THAT WE WERE ALREADY AT 10000 FT AND THAT WE HAD THE TFC IN SIGHT. AT THAT POINT THE CTLR INSTRUCTED US TO MAINTAIN 10000 FT AND MAINTAIN VISUAL SEPARATION WITH THE MDT. NO QUICK MANEUVERING WAS REQUIRED ONLY A SLIGHT CORRECTION TO THE R IN ORDER TO INCREASE SEPARATION TO A MORE COMFORTABLE DISTANCE.
