Narrative:
1 aircraft called inbound about 7 mi north and was given landing instructions. The second aircraft called inbound 7 mi northeast and was given landing instructions. What transpired from those position until pattern entry is unknown. The small aircraft X reported he saw the small aircraft Y and stated 'we've got him in front of us.' the small aircraft Y turned downwind and was observed by the controller to be approximately 1/4 mi in front of the small aircraft X. Both aircraft were sequenced and subsequently both aircraft landed with proper separation. This report is being submitted because the pilot of small aircraft X is filing a near midair collision report.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: SMA X HAD POSSIBLE NMAC WITH SMA Y. SEE AND AVOID CONCEPT.
Narrative: 1 ACFT CALLED INBOUND ABOUT 7 MI N AND WAS GIVEN LNDG INSTRUCTIONS. THE SECOND ACFT CALLED INBOUND 7 MI NE AND WAS GIVEN LNDG INSTRUCTIONS. WHAT TRANSPIRED FROM THOSE POS UNTIL PATTERN ENTRY IS UNKNOWN. THE SMA X RPTED HE SAW THE SMA Y AND STATED 'WE'VE GOT HIM IN FRONT OF US.' THE SMA Y TURNED DOWNWIND AND WAS OBSERVED BY THE CTLR TO BE APPROX 1/4 MI IN FRONT OF THE SMA X. BOTH ACFT WERE SEQUENCED AND SUBSEQUENTLY BOTH ACFT LANDED WITH PROPER SEPARATION. THIS RPT IS BEING SUBMITTED BECAUSE THE PLT OF SMA X IS FILING A NEAR MIDAIR COLLISION RPT.
