Narrative:
20 mi out of sjc we were being held up above the GS by approach control due to an small aircraft on our approach path at 4500 ft. We were eventually cleared down to 5000 ft. The small aircraft was given a vector to the west to line up for 29. We finally saw the small aircraft moving left of our flight path, and called traffic in sight. Approach control cleared us for the visual approach, referencing the small aircraft at 11 O'clock. We were by then quite high and dumping gear and flaps to get down. After switching tower, they again cleared us to land and asked us if we had the light transport to our left. We did. I was still high and began a slight south turn to the right, at which point tower asked if we had the light transport to our right. That was the first we'd heard about the light transport and we didn't see him to the right, but it did appear uncomfortably close below our nose. If he had been going slower we might have come down right on top of it; as it was the light transport was faster and pulled out in front of us.

Title: MLG ON APCH INTO SJC COMES IN CLOSE PROX TO COMMUTER LTT ARRIVING SAN JOSE ON PARALLEL RWY. MLG WAS EXECUTING S- TURNS TO SPD DSCNT AFTER BEING HELD HIGH BY ATC FOR OTHER PARALLEL RWY TFC.
Narrative: 20 MI OUT OF SJC WE WERE BEING HELD UP ABOVE THE GS BY APCH CTL DUE TO AN SMA ON OUR APCH PATH AT 4500 FT. WE WERE EVENTUALLY CLRED DOWN TO 5000 FT. THE SMA WAS GIVEN A VECTOR TO THE W TO LINE UP FOR 29. WE FINALLY SAW THE SMA MOVING L OF OUR FLT PATH, AND CALLED TFC IN SIGHT. APCH CTL CLRED US FOR THE VISUAL APCH, REFERENCING THE SMA AT 11 O'CLOCK. WE WERE BY THEN QUITE HIGH AND DUMPING GEAR AND FLAPS TO GET DOWN. AFTER SWITCHING TWR, THEY AGAIN CLRED US TO LAND AND ASKED US IF WE HAD THE LTT TO OUR L. WE DID. I WAS STILL HIGH AND BEGAN A SLIGHT S TURN TO THE R, AT WHICH POINT TWR ASKED IF WE HAD THE LTT TO OUR R. THAT WAS THE FIRST WE'D HEARD ABOUT THE LTT AND WE DIDN'T SEE HIM TO THE R, BUT IT DID APPEAR UNCOMFORTABLY CLOSE BELOW OUR NOSE. IF HE HAD BEEN GOING SLOWER WE MIGHT HAVE COME DOWN R ON TOP OF IT; AS IT WAS THE LTT WAS FASTER AND PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF US.
