Narrative:

Depart ics at HA00 pm. Opened flight plan with kankakee approximately HA10 pm. Contacted chicago approach and requested flight following. Crossed over chicago hgts VOR on time HA20 pm. Flight following cancelled outside of chicago's airspace. My heading was 127 degree from chicago hgts VOR. Everything was going smoothly. Started looking for a lake, my next chkpoint. Never saw the lake. I saw a much bigger lake than I expected. That was when I reported to peru unicom (I was lost). I also knew there was an instructor on the ground when getting assistance from the instructor. An aircraft reporting 75 NM north of me tried helping. He must have been unaware I was already being assisted. I was being told 2 different things from 2 different people. Finally instructor told me to contact grissom approach. Grissom told me my position and directed me to okk. In final for runway 32 the engine went out and began to windmill (less than one mi). I then landed smooth and safely on runway. There was absolutely no damage to the aircraft or pilot!
