Narrative:
On descent into denver, engine mixture was placed to full rich. Engine began to run rough. Engine mixture was placed to lean position -- engine smoothed out. On downwind to runway 26 engine mixture again was placed to full rich -- this caused the engine to stop running. At this point in time I placed the fuel boost pump off and mixture to lean -- engine started. During all of this, approach control cleared me to land on runway 18R. After checking with local FBO operator, he educated me on high altitude airport operations of the model number engine -- problem solved.
